Another Week Has Come and Gone

I guess it's time for my weekly update. This weekend my mom and my brother Connor came up to visit. We didn't do anything really exciting - we spent a few hours at West Edmonton Mall and then just hung out. My other brothers, Darrin and Jason, my sister-in-law Katey, and my two nephews, Ben and Brigham, came over one night for a family dinner. Luckily it was really nice outside because our home isn't that big. Plus it was great to let the kids play outside and tire themselves out! I love that we get to see our family so often. We have a lot of fun with them and I am so excited for when we live a little bit closer!
Matt is back at school working hard. I was lucky enough to go and pay him a visit the other day. He did two fillin
gs for me. It was really fun for me to see him working. He has such a fun personality and is so good with both his patients and the people that he works with. Plus he did great work - it was the most gentle experience I have ever had at the dentist. I am so proud of him! Matt is also starting to feel really confident about what he is doing and he is excited to get this school stuff over and done with. This summer he is planning to visit a few offices in southern Alberta. We'll see if that helps us figure out any better where we are going to end up.
Aiden is starting to get quite mobile. Every day he is up on his hands and knees more than the day before. He will stay up for quite a while now and just rock back and forth. I have started moving stuff off of the bottom shelves but there is still a lot that needs to be done in probably not a long time. He's also tossing and turning so much in his bed. He is in a different place each morning - sideways, on his tummy, head jammed in the corner. He also sleeps with a stuffed pig that he keeps mashed into his face. What a funny kid!

Happy Mother's Day

Yesterday was my first official Mother's Day and it was a great one. Matt tried to get up early with Aiden so that I could sleep in. Unfortunately, Aiden has been sick for the past few days and felt like I should be awake too. So, he screamed until he got his way. Oh well. It is the thought that counts. After church, our friends Ben and Lianne and their little guy Cameron came over. Matt cooked up a delicious meal - steak, shrimp, stuffed potatos, corn, salad and garlic bread - followed by banana splits! YUMMY! Then we went to the park and played a little bit. Matt and Aiden got me a super nice camera bag and a book for doing Photoshop stuff. I'm excited to try it all out. Thank you Matt (and Aiden) - you are great!
I am so thankful for the opportunity that I have to be a mother. I am so lucky that I get to stay home with Aiden and watch him learn and grow and become a fun little boy. I am so thankful that I am married to someone who appreciates and supports everything that I do as a mom. I am so grateful for all of the wonderful mothers that are in my life - I learn something new from each one of you. I'm especially grateful for my own mom - she is amazing and I couldn't do what I'm doing without her help. So, Happy late Mother's Day everyone!

Happy Half Birthday!

Aiden just turned 6 months old a few days ago - May 3 to be exact. It is crazy how fast these past months have gone. I remember so clearly the day that he came. I remember holding this teeny tiny baby and feeling so nervous, but so excited at the same time. It was such a life changing moment! When I look at all of Aiden's pictures I can't believe how much he has grown and how much he has changed in such a short time. We love having Aiden in our family and I love being a mom. He is such a happy boy and he has the most giant smile I have ever seen. His smile is super funny because he has two big teeth poking out - I love it! Aiden is starting to play super good now. He can roll over both ways and he can push himself backwards a little bit. Every now and then he goes up on his knees, but only for a tiny second. Maybe that means that he will start crawling sometime soon. I've heard that it is an exciting thing for a few days, and then you are wishing that your kid couldn't move around anymore. We'll see!
Aiden loves ea
ting all kinds of foods, and you can tell. He weighs about 20 pounds now. Matt always says that it looks really funny when I hold him because he looks WAY to big for me. I guess I'll have to start growing to keep up with him.
He is also sle
eping pretty good now. He goes to bed at 7:00, sleeps for about 8 hours, has a teeny snack and goes back to sleep until 6:30. It's been really nice having decent sleeps, but I can't wait until he goes all night! We love Aiden so much and we are so blessed to have him in our family!
